FBC VALUES AND BELIEFS

OUR VALUES

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and it is the final authority for all matters of faith and practice
(2 Timothy 3:16 – 17; Hebrews 4:12).

We value listening and talking with the Lord through the gift of prayer.
(Philippians 4:6; Colossians 4:2; 1 Thessalonians 5:17).

We value worship of the Lord Jesus Christ in all that we do, as a corporate body, and as an individual lifestyle.
(Romans 12:1; John 4:24; Psalms 34:3).

Fellowship is the partnership with others of like mind, who have the common desire to follow in Christ’s footsteps.
(1 Corinthians 12:12; Ephesians 4:1-6).

Discipleship is a process of becoming like Jesus and is the responsibility of each Christian to take personal ownership for their own spiritual maturity.
(Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Timothy 2:2; John 8:31).

We believe that God has called and uniquely gifted every believer to serve in the Body of Christ.
(Ephesians 2:10; Romans 12:6-8; Ephesians 4:11-12; 1 Peter 4:10).

As Christ’s ambassadors we are called to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people locally and globally.
(Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8; Acts 4:12; 2 Corinthians 5:20).

We value marriage as a lifelong commitment between one man and one woman that reflects Christ’s relationship with His church.
(Ephesians 5:21; Ephesians 5:33).

We believe God is worthy of our very best. Therefore, our lives should exemplify a spirit of excellence knowing that it honors God and inspires people.
(Colossians 3:17; Colossians 3:23; 2 Timothy 2:15).

We value people of every nationality and at every stage of life, from conception to natural death, seeking to show the love of Christ in every possible way.
(1 Corinthians 9:22, Galatians 3:26-28; John 3:16).

THE ESSENTIALS WE BELIEVE

WE BELIEVE that the Bible to be the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God without error in the original writings. (2 Timothy 3:15-17)
WE BELIEVE in one God. Creator of all things infinitely perfect and externally existing in three Persons: Father, Son & Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:32-33; Matthew 28:19).
WE BELIEVE that all people have sinned and come short of the glory of God; and regeneration by the Holy Spirit through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is absolutely essential for the salvation of the lost. (Romans 3:22-24; 6:23; John 16:5-11).
WE BELIEVE in the Deity and the virgin birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. That He died upon the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for the sin of the world, that He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven, from where He will return with power and glory, and He provides the only means of salvation for us, through His grace. (Matthew 1:20-25; Acts 2:22-36).
WE BELIEVE in the doctrine of justification by faith, realizing that it is impossible for a person, through works, to save oneself. “Therefore, being justified by faith, we are at peace the God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 5:1).
WE BELIEVE in baptism by immersion following a profession of faith in Christ. (Acts 16:19-33; Matthew 28:18-20).
WE BELIEVE in the eternal security of the true believer. (Romans 8:31-39; 1st John 5:18; 2 Tim 1:12; John 14:16; Eph. 1:13, 14).
WE BELIEVE in life after death, “that there shall be resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust”. (Acts 24:15)
WE BELIEVE in the resurrection of the saved into everlasting life in Heaven, and the resurrection of the lost or unsaved into eternal punishment. (Matthew 25:36; John 5:24-29).
WE BELIEVE that the Lord’s Supper is a New Testament ordinance which declares Christ’s sacrificial death. Those who have received Jesus as their personal Savior are invited to participate. (1 Corinth 11:23-29).
WE BELIEVE that marriage is a life-long commitment between one man one woman, and is reflected in the relationship between Christ and His church.
